EASTON, PA (April 1, 2010) - U.S. Naval Academy head coach Ken Niumatalolo will be the featured guest speaker at the seventh annual Lauren´s First and Goal Football Camp on Sunday, June 6 at Lafayette College.

The camp is the primary fundraiser for Lauren´s First and Goal Foundation which provides financial support for brain tumor research and cancer services, offers financial and emotional support to families living with pediatric cancer, and increases awareness of the disease. Since its creation in 2004, the foundation has raised more than $820,000.

During the one-day camp, high school student-athletes receive instruction in a variety of offensive and defensive skills from volunteer college coaches from around the country. To enhance the camp experience, a guest speaker addresses the athletes about life on and away from the football field.

“Coach Niumatalolo has been a huge part in the most successful run in Navy history,” said Lauren’s First and Goal founder John Loose. “We could not be more excited that Coach Ken Niumatalolo has volunteered to be our featured speaker at Lauren’s First and Goal Football Camp.”

Niumatalolo’s 18 wins are the most wins in school history by a coach in his first two years, while Navy’s 10 wins in 2009 are tied for the most wins in school history. Niumatalolo is the first coach in school history to lead Navy to a bowl game in each of his first two years and is the first Service Academy coach to win the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy in his first two years. Navy finished the 2009 season with a 35-13 win over Missouri in the Texas Bowl.

He is the second Polynesian head coach in Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) history and the first Samoan collegiate head coach on any level.

In addition to the Pennsylvania camp, Lauren’s First and Goal will host its inaugural Ohio camp at Otterbein College on Sunday, June 27. Last year, more than 2,100 student-athletes attended camps held in Pennsylvania and Florida, and more than 340 college coaches volunteered their time.
